The contract date we review
Your energy contract must have been signed before 1 October 2022 for this service’s potential claim review. That means 30 September 2022 or earlier. A contract signed on 1 October 2022 or later does not meet this service criterion.
Check when the agreement was made, rather than relying only on the date the energy supply started. For example, a contract signed in September with supply starting in November meets the date criterion. That does not establish entitlement to compensation.
Business energy arranged through a broker
The service concerns business gas or electricity contracts arranged through an energy broker. Your broker may have a different name from the supplier shown on your bill. Look for the company that obtained your quotation or arranged your agreement.
We focus on businesses spending £300 or more a month on energy. Monthly spend is a screening guide for this service, not proof of undisclosed commission or a legal threshold.
Limited companies and other business types
The form is for limited companies: you pick your business from Companies House. If you are a sole trader or a partnership, or your business does not appear, call us on 01332 492384 and we take the details by phone. Selecting a Companies House record helps identify the business; it does not verify your identity, your energy contract or your claim.
Not sure about the date or broker?
You can start by asking for a discussion. Keep any agreement, quote, welcome email or renewal correspondence you have. Tell the team which details are uncertain so the relevant documents can be reviewed. Do not guess a signing date to meet the criteria.
What happens after the eligibility check?
The team discusses your circumstances and the available paperwork. Using a broker, meeting the date criterion and spending £300 a month do not automatically mean you have a claim. Any next steps and representation terms will be explained before you decide to proceed.
